The industry is poised to invest

With their latest editions in April 2014, the leading industry trade fairs Wire and Tube in Düsseldorf once again upheld their status as the global number one events.

Over five days, 72,000 visitors poured into the trade fair halls to see the latest technology and product innovations on show from 2,500 exhibitors for the wire, cable and tube industries.

Both of Zumbach’s stands attracted above-average numbers of visitors. A large number of new contacts were made and there were excellent discussions which can now be continued after the fair. During the five days of the trade fair, representatives from over 50 countries came to the stand to endorse the adopted strategy of ongoing product development. The conclusion drawn by the managing director responsible, Joachim Schäfer, is a perfect adjunct to Zumbach’s mission statement: “Many companies are now keen to invest and position themselves for increasing competition.”

Which products did visitors to Wire find particularly interesting?

Recently launched products were the centre of attention at Wire 2014. These must include the new spark testers with the highest capacitive load capability available on the market. They allow manufacturers to perform 100% inspections of cables on the production line. Visitors to the stand were also fascinated by the new KW TRIO lump and neckdown detectors, which with automatic compensation is impressively impervious to stray light. For precise, non-contact length and speed measurement in cable production, Zumbach presented its LSV system with visualised laser and a state-of-the-art processor for the first time at a trade fair. Here, too, there were many serious enquiries.

In addition to the new products unveiled, other well-known and established solutions such as the UMAC® measuring and control systems with ultrasonics also went down well. Ultrasonic methods are highly popular as a way to protect resources in production processes, specifically in the high-voltage cable sector. The large booth meant it was possible to present further measuring and control solutions for communication cables, shaping, fibre-optic cables and offshore cables.

Visitor highlights at Tube

Profile measurement, linearity as well as straightness and bend measurement generated a great deal of international interest at Tube 2014.
