From April 21st to 24th, ZUMBACH Electronic AG proudly participated in ChinaPlas 2026, held at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai. With more than 4,900 exhibitors and over 350,000 professional visitors, ChinaPlas is renowned for being one of the world’s leading trade fairs for the rubber and plastics industry. This year’s event once again demonstrated the dynamic evolution of the sector, driven by intelligent manufacturing, sustainability, and digital transformation.
Against this backdrop, we presented our latest innovations in precision measurement and control, reinforcing ZUMBACH’s position as a trusted partner for manufacturers advancing toward smarter and more efficient production across a huge range of diverse applications including plastic pipes, medical tubing, and automotive hosing.
AI-Driven Surface Inspection
A major highlight was the new AI-driven SIMAC® Surface Testing System, which drew major interest from visitors with its numerous features and benefits:
- Automated defect classification and reclassification
- Advanced segmentation for clearer fault identification
- Reliable inspection on challenging materials, including black surfaces
- User-friendly setup for rapid integration into production lines
Together, these features transform surface inspection from a reactive process into a proactive quality assurance tool, for production environments where consistent quality is critical.
Strong Visitor Interest in UMAC® CI Ultrasonic Technology
Among all exhibited solutions, the UMAC® CI ultrasonic wall-thickness processor attracted exceptional attention. Visitors were particularly interested in its ability to:
- Deliver highly accurate, real-time wall thickness measurements
- Support closed-loop control for improved process stability
- Enhance product quality and material efficiency
Its performance and versatility make it an ideal solution for manufacturers looking to optimize extrusion processes, especially in high-value applications where precision is non-negotiable.
Complete Measurement and Control Portfolio
In addition to these new innovations, we also showcased many other proven systems, including:
- RAYEX® S x-ray measurement solution for wall thickness, eccentricity, ovality and diameter
- KW Fault Detectors for identifying surface faults such as lumps and neckdowns
- QC Off-Line Measuring Stations setting a new benchmark in quality control
- USYS® comprehensive process control and data acquisition system
Together, these technologies enable continuous monitoring and closed-loop control of critical parameters such as diameter, wall thickness, and eccentricity, helping manufacturers to reduce raw material consumption, increase yield and productivity, as well as ensuring consistent product quality.
Throughout the exhibition, our stand served as a hub for technical exchange and collaboration. Our team of locally-based experts provided live product demonstrations and one-to-one consultations which allowed visitors from industrial sectors including medical technology, aviation and aerospace, and automotive manufacturing to explore solutions in detail and discuss their specific production challenges.
ChinaPlas 2026 once again highlighted the pace at which the plastics and rubber industry is evolving towards smarter, more connected, and sustainable production. For us at ZUMBACH, the exhibition was not just an opportunity to showcase our technology, but to listen, exchange ideas, and better understand the challenges our customers are facing. These conversations help to shape how we innovate and refine our solutions.
With our heritage in Swiss precision engineering and a strong focus on intelligent measurement and control, we are committed to supporting manufacturers as they move towards more digital, data-driven production environments.
We look forward to building on the momentum from ChinaPlas, continuing developing new technologies, strengthening partnerships, and helping our customer achieve greater efficiency, quality, and sustainability in their production processes.
